[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,
Andy

5PM Broadcast - Friday, July 6th

Two interesting music stories from the Old Country this afternoon -

First, Amy Winehouse has some angry fans to answer to after canceling a show
in Liverpool. The singer cited illness and exhaustion as reasons for postponing the evening pops performance.

She was sighted an hour after the show was supposed to start in a famous pub in North London, over 200 miles from her scheduled appearance. According to sources at The Sun, she had been there for the majority of the day before as well.

Over 4000 were awaiting her performance, each paying well over £20 a piece.

Secondly, in the same London neighborhood as Amy's favorite bar, Babyshambles performed a secret show in anticipation of their new record. Several new songs were heard from Pete Doherty and the ex-Libertines lineup.

Among those in attendance was Shane McGowan of the Pogues, who, according to British music magazine NME, fell asleep at the bar shortly after the set began.

And to close for the weekend: rest easy 70s funk fans, Sly Stone is alive and well.

After going into seclusion for 20 years, the Family Stone frontman appeared for an interview in this month's Vanity Fair.

Stone, best known for his "Everyday People", "Family Affair", "Hot Fun in the Summertime", and "Dance to the Music" - has been comfortably enjoying retirement in Nappa, California, taking an interest in motorbikes. He was seen at the 2006 Grammy awards, but has stayed incredibly reclusive since the end of his performing career.

Seven early Sly and the Family Stone were recently reissued by Epic Records.
