[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,
Andy

A child pictured naked on the cover of an Australian arts magazine has said she is "offended" by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's criticism of the photo.

Mr Rudd re-ignited a row over children in art when he criticised the July cover of Art Monthly Australia.

The girl, Olympia Nelson, 11, has said she is proud of the image taken by her mother, a photographer, in 2003.

The magazine's editor said the cover was in protest at the closing of a photo exhibition of naked children.

Researchers have pinpointed 32 genes linked to Crohn's disease, a dire gastrointestinal disorder that affects a half-million Americans, they said in the journal Nature Genetics last week.

That is the biggest reported catch for any disease, and the number may well rise to 100 genes or more, said Mark Daly of Massachusetts General Hospital and the Broad Institute in Cambridge, the study's senior author.

Police were searching yesterday for a Wayland teenager who had not been seen since she left her job earlier in the day as a lifeguard at the Wayland Swimming and Tennis Club. In a release, Wayland police said 16-year-old Sarah Cramer was last seen walking into the woods toward her nearby Autumn Lane home at 10:20 a.m. Police described Cramer as a white female who is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans, and yellow sneakers. Police said there were no signs of foul play and that Cramer may have been distraught. No further details were available. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wayland Police Department at 508-358-4721.
