[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,

South Africa's Parliment Thursday chose the deputy president of the ruling ANC party, Kgalema Motlanthe, as interim president to replace outgoing President Thabo Mbeki, the African National Congress said.

Mbeki resigned last week at the request of the ANC, which holds a majority in the National Assembly.

Motlanthe, a left-leaning intellectual with roots in South African labour unions, will be sworn in later Thursday. He will remain in office until the general elections, now schedules for April next year.

Twelve Northeastern students were arrested on Mission Hill in the first two weeks of September, said Officer Gerry Scott, a community officer in Mission Hill for the Boston Police Department.

The charges stem from parties broken up by Boston Police and include drug and alcohol violations and keeping a disorderly house, Scott said.

Interim university spokesperson Jim Chiavelli declined to comment on the number of students arrested or the jump in number from the previous year.
