[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,

Governor Deval Patrick today is expected to announce that state revenues will decline this year by as much as $1.5 billion, giving greater urgency to the state budget cuts and layoffs he is expected to announce in a televised news conference this afternoon.

The governor is planning to announce the cuts at 5 p.m., giving him a local news broadcast platform so he can speak directly to Massachusetts residents and explain to them how the national and foreign economic chaos has hit home.

Georgian and Russian officials are in Geneva for key talks on the recent conflict over Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia.

The talks - which are being mediated by the UN, the EU and the OSCE - are aimed at encouraging stability and security in the Caucasus.

But they are unlikely to provide a solution to the dispute, diplomats say.

In August, Russia fought a brief war to repel Georgian troops trying to regain control of South Ossetia.

Moscow later recognised South Ossetia and Abkhazia - another Georgian rebel region - as independent states, drawing condemnation from Tbilisi and Western leaders.
