[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,
Andy

Amid recent studies of the impact of adjunct professors, 50 new tenured and tenure-track faculty members will begin their careers at Northeastern this year, according to university officials.

The university has promised the hirings since 2004, Provost Stephen Director said.

The announcement of these hires comes among a series of studies released last week, which are known as the Project California Community College Collaborate (C4). They suggest that the current model for using adjunct professors - with relatively low pay, little job security and minimal financial or other support for time on campus or professional development - has a significant impact on students at community colleges.

The ongoing financial crisis could put public transit systems nationwide at risk of defaulting on more than $2 billion in loans backed by troubled insurer American International Group, an industry advocacy group said Thursday.

The heads of public transportation agencies in 25 cities and 17 states sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on Wednesday asking for the federal government to act as a backer to prevent banks from collecting millions of dollars the agencies cannot spare.
