[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,

Election Recap:

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois was elected the 44th president of the United States and the nation's first black commander in chief yesterday, his triumph ushering in an era of profound political and social realignment in America. As of early today he had 338 electoral votes, far more than the 270 needed to win the presidency, while McCain had 142.

Massachusetts voters yesterday once again defeated an effort to repeal the state's income tax, following a big-spending campaign by unions and other opponents who warned that eliminating the tax would gut state government.

At the same time, voters approved a ballot question decriminalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana and another ballot question to ban dog racing.

In other statewide voting, US Senator John F. Kerry easily defeated Republican Jeff Beatty to win a fifth term.
