The nation's unemployment rate bolted to a 14-year high of 6.5 percent in October as another 240,000 jobs were cut. The jobless rate zoomed to 6.5 percent in October from 6.1 percent in September, matching the rate in March 1994.

Despite a faltering economy and possible recession, an annual study released last week by the College Board reports tuition costs are on the rise, and Northeastern is no exception.
Overall, the costs for attending Northeastern without aid or grants totals more than $45,000 when room and board are included, according to the Northeastern website. These figures are well above the reported average cost for a four-year college of $35,000 published in the study.
The study also found that Massachusetts has the highest tuition rate in the country.
