[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,
Andy

Northeastern is not any closer in finding a new Student Media Board adviser than it was before the beginning of the semester, said some members of the Student Media Board.

After former media board adviser Sandra Miller resigned from her position in the spring, Chris McGill, director of student activities, leadership and scholarship, has acted as the temporary media adviser.

On May 21, The News reported that McGill said she expected to have a new media adviser by the fall, but no new adviser has been appointed.

The media board consists of on-campus media, including the Northeastern University Cauldron Yearbook, NUTV, the Onyx Informer, The Patriot, Spectrum Literary Arts Magazine, Tastemakers, Times New Roman and WRBB 104.9 FM.

A judge cleared the way Wednesday for gay marriage in Connecticut, a victory for advocates stung by California's referendum that banned same-sex unions in that state.

The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled 4-3 on Oct. 10 that same-sex couples have the right to wed rather than accept a civil union law designed to give them the same rights as married couples.

Attackers in Afghanistan have sprayed acid in the faces of at least 15 girls near a school in Kandahar, police say.

They say that the attack happened shortly before at least six people were killed in a bomb blast near a government building in the city.

Doctor say that the six girls were wearing Islamic burkas or veils which provided them with some protection.

Correspondents say the attack is likely to have been carried out by those opposed to the education of women.
