[Sticky] How to use the WRBB Newsblog

Hey DJs!

As you probably know, we here at WRBB require that the news be read every day at Noon and 5PM. I'll have a signup sheet posted weekly in the on-air studio for people to initial times when they plan on reading the news. What you actually will read will be posted here on this blog for you to pull up.

When you do the news, please speak loudly and clearly. Any critique of the events described (which is very welcome and an excellent way of providing good on-air content) should be saved until after the read is complete. Your script should go as follows:

"Good afternoon, my name is _________. This is a WRBB News Update. The time is ____.

[proceed to reading the content. be sure to mention sources when written.]

This has been a WRBB News Update, I'm _______. For comments and questions, please email us at WRBBNewsDesk@gmail.com."

Enjoy it! I'll keep the articles relevant and interesting so we have fun doing it.

Cheers everyone,
Andy

Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to churn up the Atlantic coast and lash Eastern Massachusetts this weekend with 50-mile-per-hour wind gusts near the coast and up to 4 inches of rain. Some areas might get 6 inches, forecasters said.

The storm is forecast to crash into the Carolinas as a hurricane late tonight. After cutting back into the Atlantic, it is expected to cross Eastern Long Island and take aim at Massachusetts late tomorrow night as a tropical storm. The current track has Hanna slashing through Bristol and Plymouth counties and cutting across Scituate as it heads into Cape Cod Bay, passing just north of Provincetown.

It's that time of the year again!! The start of a new school year equals the start of some rad events sponsored by WRBB! And first up is our annual Block Party (co-sponsored this year by MEISA) on September 8th!

That's right, The Cool Kids, Mates of State, and Tim Fite will all be playing LIVE and for FREE on Northeastern's campus to usher in the new school year!

There will ALSO be a FREE photobooth and t-shirt silk-screening station (two of my favorite things!!), so make sure you show up early for that goodness and stay late for the awesome bands!

This event is rain or shine!

Jim Stellar has abruptly resigned as dean of Northeastern University's College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college at Northeastern. In a memo to faculty and staff on Wednesday, Stephen W. Director, university provost, praised Stellar's 10 years of service, including his creation of experiential education and research opportunities. Stellar was known at the university as a proponent of research programs for both graduate and undergraduate students. A university spokesman gave no reason for his departure, which was effective yesterday. Director said Stellar would take a sabbatical while considering his next career step.
